About Seaborn
Seaborn Networks is an award winning developer and operator of submarine fiber optic cable systems with an independent cable operator model. We are committed to changing the way submarine cable capacity is bought and sold by introducing the industry’s first carrier-neutral business model.
Seaborn was founded by successful telecom, submarine cable and wholesale carrier executives with experience in designing, building and operating many of the world’s largest submarine and terrestrial networks.
Seabras-1 is the first direct point-to-point submarine cable system between the financial centers of the US and Brazil. Seabras-1 is a six fiber pair, 72Tbps system that will connect New York and São Paulo. The system also has numerous branching units installed for future additional direct routes, including to Ashburn (USA), Miami (USA), St. Croix (USVI), Fortaleza (Brazil), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and Las Toninas (Argentina).
Our pioneering approach: combining consortium-like pricing with the flexibility of an independent cable operator model on fast, high quality routes. This new “pay as you grow” business model is an enabler for all purchasers of submarine cable capacity: content providers, carriers, governments and ISPs. Our pricing works by enabling dramatic economies of scale on some of the fastest growing primary routes in the world.
Seabras-1 was the recipient of the 2016 World Finance Magazine’s Greenfield Deal of the Year Award for Project Finance, Global Telecoms Business Award for Wholesale Service, the Perfect 10 ECA Deal of the Year for 2015 – Best America ECA Finance Deal by Trade & Export Finance and the GTR Best Deal of 2015 by Global Trade Review.
